Toronto group Little Girls (aka Josh McIntyre and Co.) announce their proper
album debut, Concepts. The album's 11 tracks span from the very first Little
Girls track ever written to brand new material. Concepts was recorded only at
night in a home studio with most of the songs contributing to an ongoing
theme of growing up.

It all started when McIntyre recorded a few songs in his home studio as a
side project in early 2009. Seeking the unbiased opinions from friends and
musical peers he anonymously posted the music on the internet under the name
Little Girls, a name he believed least likely to reveal his identity. His
influences come from the '80s no-wave post-punk scene, and the early '80s
golden era of hip-hop. Equally influential are the late hip-hop artist J.
Dilla, as well as Can, Joy Division, Wire and The Clean.

The intentional lack of a singing voice makes everything even more exciting.
The notes themselves, the riffs and the rithmic section act as protagonists

The Staph song has a crazy long and crazy quiet intro and outro. This is
EXACTLY how it sounds on the real record. You can barely even hear it unless
you turn the volume way up. It's kind of weird, but why should I judge... Buy

"Chicago's Staph and Ohio's Antilles meet up for the third and final volume
of the first inkblot records split 7" series. Veteran band Antilles deliver
three new short blasts of fast, aggresive 90s style screamo with unique
intensity. Over the top screamed vocals and buzzing, jangly guitar work
saturate the first and third tracks while bass driven, quieter nervous riffs

¦¦¦ music -- it's stereotypical, yes, but it happens. And, ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ truthfully, it adds to the mystique of the band. ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ Fences debut, The Ultimate Puke EP, conjures up memories ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ of acoustic/folk past: Elliott Smith; Mike Kinsella / ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ Owen; David Bazan. But the Seattle (by way of Boston) trio ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ adds their own flair. On songs like "My Girl the Horse" ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ and "Boys Around Here," the common 'verse/chorus/verse' ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ formula has been thrown away, heeding to a quasi-Mark ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ Kozelek-ish drone of a constant riff with only subtle ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ changes in vocal melodies or auxiliary percussion. Hushed ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ vocals and careful strumming make for a very slow build of ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ almost every song on this EP, and it works. ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ The Ultimate Puke EP could easily be the sleeper hit of ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ the year, if it's accepted. I see Fences as more of a ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ bands' band, opposed to anything the random girl next to ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ you in lecture would be listening to. But in the same ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ breath, I could easily see some of these songs on movie ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ soundtracks or in the background of a few television ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ shows. But if I had my way, I'd just like to hear them ¦¦¦
¦¦¦ play "The Same Tattoos" in my basement while everyone sang ¦¦¦

Brothers who start bands tend to fall out at some point (think Oasis), but Jared
and Shannon Leto seem to have found something to not only bring siblings
together, but a legion of fans.
Not wanting to use his Hollywood fame to help the band, Jared Leto has made it
clear that the band comes first.

30 Seconds to Mars have been winning awards left right and centre, including
winning Fuse's 'Best of 2007' award against Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance and
Avenged Sevenfold.

For their latest album, This is War, the band organised 'The Summit', a
gathering for fans as part of their recording process. Encouraging fans for
their input, the band included the almost thousand fans who turned up from
around the world to sing a chorus. Kanye West also collaborated on the track
'Hurricane'.

The new album brings the group back to the sound familiar to their self-titled
album, and will strike the right chords for fans of the band.

When Philly collective Espers entered the stage with their 2004 self-titled LP,
they rode the freak-folk wave that was then taking over indie and made it
freakier, adding a spaced-out acid-rock sensibility that took them to some
unexplored middle ground between Bert Jansch and Hawkwind. When I interviewed
Devendra Banhart around that time, Banhart made a big point about how the new
weird America vanguard wasn't actually folk at all, pointing out along the way
that the Espers folks were all big Sabbath fans. Made perfect sense. Chuck Eddy
(my former editor at The Village Voice), once pointed out that that first
album-- and the one after it, 2006's II-- sounded like wispy, atmospheric
goth-metal (Katatonia, say, or Candlemass) with all the metal stuff stripped
away. Totally true. It also sounded something like screwed-and-chopped Renn
Faire music. It was some seriously blissed-out opium-den shit.

Release Notes:

Hadouken! are, let's be clear, the most confusing band in the entire
country, possibly the world. Having begun their career producing music
so calculatedly obnoxious that you felt that they regarded every person
horrified by their electro-grime barking as a personal triumph (and
let's be clear - that was a lot of people), their second album For The
Masses - due next year - is shaping up to broaden their appeal
exponentially. Witness, if you will, the video for the new 'Turn The
Lights Out', in which James Smith's grindie troops stomp around a house
wearing black, rapping in a sort of boyband way with a massive "We've
lit the fuse and we're ready to blow! Don't don't care where we are!
Don't care where we go!" chorus. It sounds like Pendulum, Limp Bizkit,
and JLS, all at the same time. Their press release compares it to
Wu-Tang, which is sweet. It is, indubitably, both the stupidest and
best thing they've ever done. On this evidence, For The Masses should
be hilarious.

Now a staple in Australian hardcore, 50 Lions
first bared their claws in 2005 at the height of
the metalcore craze in their native Byron Bay.
Focussing on producing a more traditional hardcore
sound, they soon released a 7” and in 2007 their
debut their album, Time Is The Enemy followed by a
split with Down To Nothing and more recently their
self titled 7". Recording of the bands sophomore
album titled “Where Life Expires” took place once
again with Sam Johnson at Melbourne’s 3 Phase
Studios.
